Bob Ross Happy Little Trees

Inspired by the centennial year of Michigan state parks, the DNR and Bob Ross Inc. are partnering on the Happy Little Trees program. The existing but renamed Department of Corrections program has inmates learning to grow native tree saplings.

In turn, statewide volunteers plant those saplings, helping to reforest our state parks. Bob Ross taught generations to appreciate the intersection of art and nature through his public television show, “The Joy of Painting.”

The new partnership is a natural extension of the gentle artist’s love of capturing the beauty of the outdoors and helping others do the same.
