Sleeping Bear Dunes Stoneware Mug - Yellow

$23.50

Description

The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is a Michigan gem. It is the largest freshwater dune system in the world!

Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore gets its name from one dune in particular—the “Mother Bear”. Keeping watch along the edge of Lake Michigan, this dune, at one time, resembled a sleeping bear. The Ashininaabek used the Mother Bear as a landmark to tell the story about how she came to be there.

Variations of this tale have been passed down verbally for generations. However one thing will always remain, a mama bears unceasing love for her cubs.

The dunes hold great importance to many and have created countless childhood memories.

These mugs are handmade by our friends at Deneen Pottery. We hope these mugs bring out your childhood memories and your adventurous spirit!

Due to its handcrafted nature each piece is unique – color and size may vary slightly from photo.
