Belle Isle State Park Print
Situated on the Detroit River between the U.S. and Canada, Belle Isle Park was designed by celebrated urban park designer Frederick Law Olmsted who also designed Central Park in New York. Its 982 acres are home to the Belle Isle Aquarium, the Belle Isle Conservatory, the Belle Isle Nature Zoo, the Detroit Yacht Club, and acres of recreational space. It is truly one of the gems of the Great Lakes State.

About the artist: Petrus Martens resides in mid-Michigan and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Florida State University along with a fellowship from Yale University where he studied printmaking, sculpture and painting. While predominantly a painter, most recently he has taken great interest in travel-print advertising from the early 20th century. His Inspiration comes from a combined fascination of the subject matter, colors, composition and the craftsmanship employed in this foregone era of printmaking. He combines drawings/paintings and text to create each piece resembling a vintage poster.
