Michigan is for Plovers T-Shirt - Yellow

Piping Plovers, a bird species which is found in the Great Lakes, Great Plains, on the Atlantic Coast in North America.

These North American birds have been suffering a significant habitat loss because of climate change. Their nest site in the edge of the water, on open sandy beaches. The shallow wetlands are having fluctuating water levels and building nests on the exposed shoreline has been difficult due to the rising water level. 

Here in Michigan, the state with the most habitat remaining, the piping plover was listed as endangered in 1986. The Great Lakes population nested exclusively at a few sites on the northeastern shore of Lake Michigan and southeastern shore of Lake Superior.
