Detroit Brewing Company Mixer Glass

Craft beer, micro-brews, or small batch – whatever you call it Michiganders will drink it! But brewing great beer is nothing new around here. The Great Lakes State has been home to some of the greatest beer for almost 200 years.

This heavy-duty mixer glass pays homage to Detroit Brewing Company's Bohemian Beer.

In the years before prohibition, dozens of breweries dotted the landscape of Detroit. The Detroit Brewing Company was incorporated in 1886 by the Martz brothers, and remained family-owned for its nearly eighty-year existence.

During prohibition, the brewery remained closed. The company re-formed in 1934 and started brewing again. The brewery went up for sale in 1948, but there were no takers. It closed in 1949— the first in a long line of Detroit breweries to close for good.
