Lake Superior Blue and Copper Pendant Necklace
Description
Lake Superior Blue is one of the most sought after treasures of the Michigan coastline. Many believe this jewel really is a gemstone, due to its beautiful deep blue luster. Truthfully it’s slag glass, a remnant of the Upper Peninsula ore-smelting factories of the 1800s. The by-product of a long-ended process, these stones were shaped, cooled, and colored by the waters of Lake Superior.
These unique pieces are made with Lake Superior Blue electroformed into Michigan-sourced copper on copper chains. Created for Peninsulas by Detroit-based jewelry maker Bethany Shorb of Well Done Goods.
