Some Detroit traditions are universally understood. Others require you to pick a side. When it comes to Coney Islands, the question has always been a simple one: Lafayette or American?

Our Detroit Coney Island Holiday Coaster gives that long-running local rivalry a little Christmas twist. Reindeer wait curbside on a snowy downtown night while Santa makes his stop at Lafayette and a few elves settle in next door. As far as we’re concerned, that settles at least one question: Santa eats at Lafayette. Adapted from original Peninsulas holiday artwork and reworked especially for the coaster format, it’s a playful celebration of a uniquely Detroit tradition.

One of the many coasters we offer, designed to be mixed, matched, or collected over time. This 4" × 4" matte ceramic coaster is cork-backed for surface protection and printed in-house by Peninsulas. At approximately 1/4" thick, it has a substantial feel while still being made for everyday life—set beside morning coffee, evening cocktails, hot cocoa, and the moments in between. Hand washing with mild soap is recommended to help preserve the vibrancy of the design.
