White Shoal Lighthouse Ornament
Description
Michigan has more lighthouses along its 3,200 miles of shoreline than any other state in the US. White Shoal is located off the shores of Cross Village in Lake Michigan and was built in 1910. Look for its unique red and white striped barber shop painted exterior as you navigate the waters.
This ornament was hand-crafted, using the same techniques that originated in the 1800's. Molten glass is mouth-blown into finely carved molds, then a hot solution of liquid silver is poured inside. The ornament is then hand-painted and glittered in a series of labor-intensive steps.
