Lake State Beer Pint Glass

$7.50 $15.00

Description
Craft beer, micro-brews, or small batch – whatever you call it Michiganders will drink it! But brewing great beer is nothing new around here. The Great Lakes State has been home to some of the greatest beer for almost 200 years.

This heavy-duty pint glass pays homage to Lake State Beer, brewed by Grand Rapids Brewing Co.

In December 1892, six Grand Rapids breweries consolidated their individual operations to form the Grand Rapids Brewing Company. During prohibition, the company produced soft drinks, industrial alcohol and byproducts. After the repeal of Prohibition in 1933, it wasn’t long before beer again became available in the Grand Rapids area.

Grand Rapids Brewing Co. merged with the Furniture City Brewing Co., another pre-Prohibition brewery in 1933. In 1935, they relocated to Muskegon and began brewing beer again. But the business never prospered, and by the late 1930s the Grand Rapids Brewing Co. vanished from the list of brewers in the city directory. Its assets were liquidated and the firm dissolved in 1946.
