Mackinac Bridge Patch

$7.00

Description

Opened in 1957, the Mackinac Bridge was a dream nearly a century in the making. Calls for a bridge began as early as the 1880s—even Cornelius Vanderbilt, a Grand Hotel board member, publicly pushed for it in 1889.

For decades, ferry boats carried passengers and freight across the Straits. But as demand grew, only a bridge would do. Bureaucratic delays and World War II slowed the project, but on November 1, 1957, the Mighty Mac finally opened—forever changing how people moved between Michigan’s two peninsulas.

Sew this patch onto your backpack, jacket, or well-worn denim—it’s sure to spark stories and admiration wherever it goes.
