Back in 1986, the Piping Plover was listed as endangered in Michigan, with only 13 breeding pairs in the state. But thanks to a variety of conservation programs, these days the population has now reached more than 70 breeding pairs! You can get involved in these programs through organizations like the Great Lakes Piping Plover Conservation Team.
