Our Modern Michigan Seal Coaster offers a contemporary interpretation of Michigan’s historic state seal, using simplified forms to reflect the state’s enduring symbols and values. Native wildlife—including elk, moose, and the American bald eagle—represent strength and resilience, while the central shield evokes one of Michigan’s iconic horizons, somewhere between sunrise and sunset. Admitted to the Union in 1837, Michigan’s motto Tuebor—“I will defend”—speaks to its frontier roots and the steady resolve that continues to define the state.

One of the many coasters we offer, designed to be mixed, matched, or collected over time. This 4" × 4" matte ceramic coaster is cork-backed for surface protection and printed in-house by Peninsulas. At approximately 1/4" thick, it has a substantial feel while still being made for everyday life—set beside morning coffee, evening cocktails, and the moments in between. Hand washing with mild soap is recommended to help preserve the vibrancy of the design.
