Located in Michigan’s second largest state park, the Tahquamenon Falls are a collection of beautiful waterfalls that draw visitors year-round. The natural tannins from a nearby cedar swamp give the falls their brown hue and earned them the nickname “The Root Beer Falls”.
The Upper Tahquamenon Falls, pictured here, is more than 200 feet across with a drop of almost 50 feet! There has been as much as 50,000 gallons of water recorded flowing over the upper falls, making it the third largest waterfall east of the Mississippi River.
